Materials modelling community and specifically OpenKIM lauded as a champion for reproducible and reusable science

04-Jan-2024

Prof. Aron Walsh, head of the Materials Design Group at Imperial College London, has written a feature article "Open computational materials science" in Nature Materials, positively evaluating the materials modelling community's transition towards open science and data protocols. From the abstract:

"The materials modelling community is emerging as a champion for reproducible and reusable science. Aron Walsh discusses how FAIR databases, collaborative codes and transparent workflows are advancing this movement."

The OpenKIM repository is named as one of the platforms enabling successful open science practices in materials modelling. We thank all KIM users and contributors for the progress we have made, and look forward to continuing our mission to make simulations of materials reliable, reproducible, and accessible!
